1392430 2015-01-21 08:04:00 The DVD in my old C0mpaq Pressaro has stopped working. At startup it tries to find a mass storage controller which I presume refers to the DVD drive.
The driver for the DVD I think is a file named MHT2060AT PL. In trying to find this file I get lots of hits from GOOGLE but they all want me to buy a program like Driver Detective to scan the laptop, every one of them,$50! There must be somewhere that I can just download the driver. Any ideas?

1392431 2015-01-21 08:14:00 MHT2060AT PL leads to a Fujitsu Hard Drive, not a DVD drive.

What OS are you using ?

Does the DVD drive show under My Computer.

Or open the device manager ( depending on what OS will depend how) and see whats showing as being the problem. Generally DVD Drives dont need any special Drivers the inbuilt should work fine.

What you can also do is when the laptop first starts before you get to the compaq display , there should be flash across the bottom of the screen what key to press to enter the BIOS / Setup. Enter it and see if the DVD Drive shows there. ( depending on the model it may be F10, F11 or F2)

1392432 2015-01-21 08:27:00 Thanks wainuitech. I am on the wrong track. The DVD shows up in control panel and is reported as working properly. Must be stuffed! Thanks again DavidW (532)
1392433 2015-01-21 19:02:00 One way to test it, is to put in a bootable CD, something like your windows CD/DVD. Depending on how the BIOS is set, you can boot directly from it or you may have to go into the BIOS and change it so the first boot device is the optical Drive, other wise most laptops have a the option to open a boot menu ( again when it first starts), which ever way, see if it boots/starts from the CD, if it does, then it could simply be corruption within windows. wainuitech (129)
