1392322 2015-01-19 23:15:00 I want to be able to allow other people to use the computer but I want to restrict access to Control Panel so that no one can make changes to the computer. Is there a way that I can make that part of the computer password protected? Hopefully some one can tell me how that is done. Thank you. Roscoe (6288)
1392323 2015-01-19 23:56:00 Depends on the OS, some its easy others requires a bit more of a work around. If its W7 home then you need to do reg hacks, if its a pro version you can do it Via gpedit (Group Policy Editor)

Some info : www.howtogeek.com

if its 8.1 - so pre configured reg hacks, and Group Policy Editor instructions as well: www.eightforums.com

Keep in mind it will block you as well. The pro and higher versions are designed to allow different options, the general home user versions are not.

The better way if you dont want a complete lock out, is to create a separate account for others, and restrict access that way.

1392324 2015-01-20 01:19:00 Thanks for that, Wainui. I had not thought of doing separate accounts. I will do it that way. Thanks for your suggestion. Much appreciated.

By the way, the OS is XP.
