1392014 2015-01-13 05:12:00 I have a faulty, out of warranty AMD Radeon 6870 graphics card.
I think I might have shorted something on it, but anyway, every time I plug it into my PC case the PC won't even start.
Once I remove it the PC will boot up fine using an identical 6870 card.
Does anyone know of a good NZ graphics card repairer I could try?

1392015 2015-01-17 07:30:00 You've got more chance of getting a fried hard drive repaired, and that ain't cheap.

In the case of a graphics card, short of cleaning it or touching up dry solders, I'd be inclined to say it's only good as a door stop now. Pity, as it'll be one ugly doorstop.

1392016 2015-01-17 20:22:00 I imagine the repair cost for an older card (assuming the repair is even possible) would far exceed the value of the card (had a quick look on trademe and a 6870 sold for $70 on boxing day). icow (15313)

Could be something simple like a shorted MOSFET in the card's voltage regulator circuit.
