Do this test -- put the motherboard in the New case, screw it down making sure the risers are below each hole in the motherboard and no extras are someplace else, check none of the tabs in the back plate are in ports they are not meant to be in. Attach ONLY the following cables from the power Supply. The 24pin power plug, and the 4 /8 Pin CPU plug. NOTHING else. On the front headers that connect to the power button, there will be several pins, locate the power + & - With a flat bladed screwdriver touch/join the +& - pins for a second (this is all the power switch is doing anyway) the board should fire up into life. See if it starts normally. If it wont work, take out the Motherboard again, remove the back cover plate so you have a open hole, put the mother board back in , attach the TWO cables as above, try again. If it fires up then theres a short between the cover /motherboard. IF you still have problems with no cover plate then there is a short circuit between the motherboard and case somewhere. If it runs OK, then you had the wiring wrong. To turn it off do as normal as long as its boots into windows, if Not then simply turn off the power to it. |
