The only problem with dual SIM fones is that the second SIM has to be GSM which counts out Telecom, Skinny and a lot of the Vodafone areas like the Bay of Plenty..
One day maybe they will make a dual SIM version that will also work on WCDMA on both SIMs.

1380045 2014-07-28 02:52:00 Just got one for a friend - awesome value for money. Doesn't 'feel' like a premium phone, but for $250+ GST you don't expect it to. It looks awesome though. Screen looks fine and is nice and bright (even when compared side by side with my HTC One M7) and the Asus android 'overlay' looks pretty cool actually. Camera is fine.

Downsides....umm...no NFC (who uses that anyway) no LTE (still kind of pointless anyway, although that's changing), and ....that's about it I guess. Oh no removable battery. That doesn't bother me. I really like it. Makes my HTC seem rather overpriced. Still never met anyone who uses two SIMs, but if someone wanted to use two Telecom/Skinny SIMs that wouldn't work...but other than that...awesome phone.

Where did you get the info on the dual sim issue?
They don't say anything like that in the specs of the Zenfone itself.

It does in the PB Tech tech info.. SIM1 3G SIM2 GSM..

I must be blind as I don't see that anywhere.

What I do see though, in the graphic at the top of the page about the Zenphone, is an icon for the Dual Sim feature with the text '3G' on top of the picture of the two SIM cards.
So that would make me think that 3G works on both SIM cards.

1380050 2014-07-28 23:38:00 Had a look at the phone at PBTech. Big. Nice. Sitting next to big LG phones at twice the price. But if it's 3G for one of the sims, I assume it will primarily work on Telecom XT? (which I think is 3G WCDMA 850/2100MHz). For the GSM sim does it mean 2G or 3G? kahawai chaser (3545)
1380051 2014-07-29 00:15:00 Sim1 works perfectly on Telecom. Havent tested Sim2 though....

Hmm OK but doesn't mention anything about that in the actual specs of the phone.
