Would love to not have to install Java at all!

1379731 2014-07-22 08:26:00 Wow.
I'm constantly amazed that people put up with this sort of ****. And it is only getting worse.

How can you trust your own PC?
How can you entrust your data to a device that you have no idea who is controlling?

1379732 2014-07-22 22:43:00 That Ask installer is pretty bad. Pretty septic. Replaces the IE home page & the IE search engine.
It totally confuses some elderly users , who dont know why IE has changed from what they expect the home page to be (Google or whatever)

NOT what should be bundled with security updates .

1379733 2014-07-23 01:13:00 Just updated java from the Control Panel and didn't get any mention of Ask, installed ok and home page is the same. Whenu (9358)
1379734 2014-07-23 01:39:00 I did an update this morning and didn't see it either - they may have removed it. wratterus (105)
1379735 2014-07-23 01:50:00 I uninstalled Java last year, and have only come across one website that required it so far - one of those Youtube downloader sites. I thought I'd see a lot more that insisted on it. Renegade (16270)
1379736 2014-07-23 01:53:00 It's not websites that use it that annoy me (as you say, they are pretty non-existent nowadays), but rather desktop programs. Agent_24 (57)
1379737 2014-07-23 05:46:00 It was on the java update I did at the weekend but I knew it was there so didn't let it install the ask bar gary67 (56)
