In their gun culture and with all the violent dangerous criminals city cops deal with they seem to become prone to assuming everyone they deal with is like that. The guy did technically resist arrest which doesn't excuse the police behaviour but it was foolish. If the gun wielding crazy person wearing a uniform tells you to put your hands behind your back you don't argue, you do as you're told. you leave anything else to the lawyers. I've seen so many of those cop shows where the police appear to be proud of themselves and congratulating each other for behaviour I find appalling. For example there was a stolen truck in one episode they had blocked in that was circling up and down a street with nowhere to go. They decided it was a danger to the public so a police officer ran up to the door and shot the driver through it. The fact that the truck was penned in and going slow enough to catch on foot makes the "threat" imaginary in my opinion. You only have to remember the Kim dot com fiasco to see how the american influence caused our police to do some stupid over the top raid on a non-violent unarmed man - whether he's a criminal or not.	dugimodo (138)

They haven't won anything since WW11, so why expect them to lead in anything over the next 100 years. Your last statement does bear thinking about and one does wonder why the UN Secretary General is in Qatar instead of a deck-chair in either Gaza or Israel, perhaps it's because Qatar is financing the Iranian rockets and the money is not improving the lot of ordinary Palestinians'.
