1379225	2014-07-14 23:24:00	Perhaps MS's issues are to do with its size , and employees not wanting to rock the boat (and even being told NOT to rock the boat even when asked direct questions ) . Being soley focused on becoming & staying market leaders , they forget about the people they need to buy & use the product. They really have no realistic forward vision, get it so wrong so many times , and are pretty much relying on a customer base that is 100% locked into their product. They try to create demand in features & products that no one wants , otherwise good products they release are hampered by their 'my way or no way" attitude & refusal to bend to customer wants & demands . They release products with fanfare & gusto, claiming its the next big thing, then abandon & eventually drop that product a few years later Its as if they think of customers as a inconvenience to their market dominance strategy	1101 (13337)

And some of the things we didnt want but tried to force on us. They will be very much aware, they will have market researchers They also see that the public arnt flocking in droves to upgrade from old to new, as they expected . Sales are down = your new product isnt the world beater you claimed = this isnt what we wanted	1101 (13337)

What programmes, Apps, etc? PJ I want two things in a computer - quality hardware, and a quality OS. By that I mean a quality screen, not a 1366 x 768 15.6 inch piece of junk, a well designed and made body without flex or cheap creaky plastic everywhere. A well thought out layout of connection ports, and a hinge which feels sturdy and opens nicely. Basically, a laptop with the build quality of an Macbook. Then I want software which feels cohesive and well thought out, is fast, and reliable. Windows 8.1 is kind of of there, its not perfect but I don't mind it. To me, the main issue is the first one - a race to rock bottom pricing, by building loads of cheap crappy notebooks.	Nick G (16709)

While Bill Gates came up with a fantastic idea of creating a software only business - it becomes very hard to restrict rubbish hard ware from running on it if you have very loose hardware requirements and very little way of monitoring those standards. Of course now that there is a very level playing field that is open to ALL competitors we get to see what happens when the real players stand up (Apple, Google etc). MS's issues have very little to do with its size and a lot to do with the way the company is run and the path it has been taking over the last 14 years as a result.	Webdevguy (17166)

1379232	2014-07-15 02:30:00	*cough* Surface ok.. that's one device... that is decidedly over priced (at $10,000 a piece) and looking for a relevant market. Got any more mass market devices that are specifically designed as PCs? and not Xboxs that are pretending to be "PCs"	Webdevguy (17166)
