2005-10-20 20:52:00 | Anyone else having problems with the SMTP server at Xtra? Can receive email ok but not send. Buddy up in Welly has the same problem. | Sb0h (3744) | |
2005-10-20 21:23:00 | I have the same problem. It works but very slowly. See here (xtra.co.nz) for Xtra's network status. They must have problems with their mail servers somewhere.

2005-10-20 21:42:00 | Yep, I've been having problems for the last week on and off in Aucks | Shortcircuit (1666) | |
2005-10-20 21:43:00 | One of the people at work's family members is stuck with the same problem as well. It looks like xtra have updated their status message to say they have a problem. No ETA for a fix though. They are on dial up, and slow means timeout for them. -Qyiet

2005-10-20 21:47:00 | Had a few calls from my clients that use Xtra, all having email problems as well. Xtra 0800 number is so busy that you can't even be put on hold!

2005-10-20 21:49:00 | Same problem here . When I went onto their web site there were no known problems so I tried to ring them . After listening to recorded messages for 20 minutes I gave up . The problem with xtra is they hate to admit they have a problem and their service when they do is nothing short of diabolical . Probably saving money to fund the million dollar plus pay package of their CEO .

2005-10-20 21:54:00 | They could be trying to avoid receiving all those outraged e-mails regarding the CEO's pay pack :D Strangely if I can't send an e-mail using Thunderbird it seems to work better (but not always) using OE

2005-10-20 23:06:00 | Yep, I've been having problems for the last week on and off in Aucks I've had it for just over a week. And plenty of calls from other Xtra customers during that time too. I rang them and asked the helpdesk monkey to log it with the appropriate dept then (He denied there was a problem). Got mad this morning and rang them back, 2nd HDM did log it this time as I told him if they had paid attenetion back then it might not have escalated to this point now. Points to this guy though for noting my rant down and forwarding it. But I did say they shouldn't assume everyone is an idiot. Question one: whats your number broadband is on? - Why? Several people were experiencing the problem... Question two: - the usual fiddle with settings in Outlook Express and AV settings - Why? Several people using a variety of email programs and a few with no AV were experiencing the problem. But inter-dept communication is not one of Telecoms strong points...

2005-10-21 00:13:00 | Well, egg on my face I guess. I just canned Paradise dial up for my buddy in Welly yesterday as they have been having email trouble for the past 3-4 weeks. Set him up with Xtra yesterday and what happens today? Geez you just can't win with these guys. Surely they must have backup systems in place for this kind of thing?! :illogical

2005-10-21 00:47:00 | Well they’re still down on my dial-up after four hours so I guess it’s a beaut crash this time. I’m with you pctech, why they want you to check all your settings when they must know they’ve got a problem eludes me. The other problem I’ve struck a couple of times is that when I’ve actually managed to get someone, they don’t speak English and I only speak English. Not helpful at all. :(
