397557 2005-10-18 21:49:00 Hey,

I am wanting to build a PC that I can use on my TV monitor so I don't need an actual PC Monitor .
What's the best way to go about this that's cost effective also?

Do I have to get a TV Card, graphics card, or can I get a motherboard that can do this??
I want to get a micro case so this may limit me i think!!

Any feedback would be really appreciated .

Thanks

397558 2005-10-18 21:58:00 Any good graphics card will have a TV/svideo out, the quality of text on a TV may be a bit much though. Rob99 (151)
397559 2005-10-18 23:23:00 Yep, you can do it but you will absolutely hate the results. The resolution of a TV screen is far inferior to even the worst monitor.

I suggest that you do it the other way round and watch TV on your monitor.

Cheers

Answer to first question: Dot pitch on a TV CRT is nowhere near as good as a monitor CRT, nor is the convergence that good. TV programs are low-definition, therefore TV CRTs are built to a lower standard.

Answer to second question: No, there's no point in supplying quality signals that the TV CRT can't display.

I'd flag it if I were you, you won't like the results and you'll regret wasting your time.

397565 2005-10-27 00:04:00 Even the new LCDs and Plasmas you find at shops (at least in NZ) have poor resolutions (not much better than DVD).

Only some projectors seem good,as they can do respectable resolutions of 1280 by 1024.

Roll on high-definition TV ..
