397550 2005-10-18 21:36:00 I had a problem booting my laptop so eventually decided to reinstall XP Pro to my C Drive then restore a C Drive image with Norton Ghost 9.0. I have Ghost 9.0 installed on my PC and laptop. All goes well then XP asks me to insert the original install disc, reboot and boot from the CD into the Symantec Recovery Disk. I cant find the CD anywhere. Is there a way round this? I am restoring the C drive and have several drives partitioned on the laptop with Ghost still installed on one of the others. How can I get back into Ghost when I reboot? wattie (613)
397551 2005-10-18 23:37:00 If you had a C: drive image, why did you bother to reinstall XP? That would not be necessary .

All you need to extract a Ghost image is Ghost . exe on a floppy disk, or a bootable CD with the image extractor on it . I don't run to Ghost 9, but I doubt that the basic principles have changed because OS restoration must be able to start without an OS present, therefore it is a boot exercise .

Somebody might be able to email you the boot program to get it going . Mine fits on a floppy with heaps of room to spare .

I hope your image file was not stored on the C: partition you just overwrote with XP .

397552 2005-10-19 00:59:00 Thanks Billy T....what happened was I couldn't boot the laptop at all for some reason. My image was on another partition so I decided to reload XP on the C partition and then copy the image over. When I went to do this I found the CD was missing...bugger. I have the image in 2 places...another partition and on CD's. Any way to do this?. By the way, the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive. If I could get the bootable image extractor from somewhere then I could burn it to CD and I'd be away. It's not a total disaster, at worst I'll have to go and buy another copy of Ghost, at least I did the image in the first place! wattie (613)
