I generally agree with Metla's specs, however he can keep his Asus MB as there failure rate is high compared to other brands in my experience.

And what experience is that? I have only ever had one faulty ASUS in 10 years. And that was just a faulty LAN on it.
They are the most reliable brand in the world, any review site will tell you they come out tops on quality.

397502 2005-10-21 01:16:00 Yes i know they do but i was just getting a rough idea on the price and what you think of it. by the time i am able to afford this computer hopefully early next year :( all prices will be down :D
What Metla has quoted is good. If you wait until next year its a waste of time getting quotes now, not only will the pricing be different but there will be new models of everything out too.
Wait till you are ready then get quotes....

397503 2005-10-21 01:17:00 I'd have to agree with PCtech, I've had two Asus boards... everything else may crap out around them but they just keep on going Shortcircuit (1666)

Selling and/or install at least 500+ motherboards over 12 years (really not sure of amount that is rough a guess), not our main brand of board.

I doubt you have dealt with many having only 1 single faulty board?, all brands have at least a 3%+ field failure rate in reality.

Sorry to disappoint you but yes I have dealt with the sort of numbers as you say. And no many items don't have at LEAST 3%. Crap items do.
Thats one thing I have always done, kept documentation on which items came back, who from, type of fault, etc etc. Then you can collate it at certain times and see exactly the failure rates for particular brands.

OMG you are claiming 1/500 boards over there 2-3 year field warranty . I doubt there is a Mobo manufacturer on earth that would claim anything like that rate . You are either incredibly lucky (I will assume this, to give you the benefit of the doubt) or lying, you can take your pick .

If you have a heart to heart with one of the Techy lads at Ingram/Tp or Morningstar, I am sure they will ADMIT to at least a few percent which would be normal excluding anything I am saying .

Anyway, this argument is hijacking this thread
