397582 2005-10-19 03:47:00 Well, I bought a new computer about 3-4 months ago. It had an integrated graphics card. Recently I've been wondering if i were to get 1 gig more ram and a better graphics card how much would it improve pc performance? My computer stuff is in my sig. CorbinH (37)
397583 2005-10-19 05:48:00 Depends on what your doing, and what type of video card your looking at.
1 GIG IS "generally" enough for desktop apps and a new video card won't really help 2D apps etc.

As for high end Games, another gig and a fast Video card will help heaps sure.

You will need to be specfic.

397584 2005-10-21 03:41:00 Sorry I haven't reposted sooner. I've been very busy. I was thinking about it and I decided against a graphcs card (might be nice to reclaim that 128 mb ram back though). The only even semi graphics demanding game/app i have is probably Lineage 2. The wierd thing is though, right now I'm just on my computer with I tunes, Fire Fox (just pf1 open) and in the back ground im recoreding a tv program I only have 284 mb of ram according to my system info... Is it normal for Firefox to take 75mb of ram when i dont even have but 1 tab open? I just added up all my ram things in control panel (yes i added my graphics card in) And i seem to be lacking 100ish??? When i open lineage 2 i have around 80-120ish ram left (some times 200ish if im not recording tv or anything like that) So my point pretty muchly is how much would another gig of ram help my comp???

Thanks to any one who answers and thanks for reading all this i know i kinda rambled on some...
