A good friend has used his recovery cd on his Japan built and brought NEC pc (WinXP Home in Japanese). Its about 3 years old and came with SP1 I believe. After recovery it has gone back from having SP2 to not having it. Now....

....can I use the english SP2 cd that came out here not long ago to update his machine,
saving him redownloading the service pack again over the net?
He will still need the numerous updates since that release, but it would save him a big 256Mb download.

Ringing Microsoft Japan to get a cd sent out is a possable last resort (if they would send one all the way over here).

And tell you, its the wrong language for his version of XP.

Give MS NZ a ring, they must have other versions besides the English version.
