| 398422 | 2005-10-22 21:52:00 | Hi everyone When I log on my Dell computer I brought from The Warehouse, I get a message telling me I need to update my Windows Messenger, but I have already downloaded the latest one. How do I get rid of this blimmin' message Thankyou from Shady :badpc: |

To remove Windows Messenger (If you have Win xp that is) Go to Start > Control Panel > add remove programs > on the left look for “Add/remove Windows components” once your in there at the bottom of the list you should see windows messenger ticked, un-tick it then click on start & it should be uninstalled after that. Hope this helps :) & if you have any problems post back here |

Windows messenger & MSN messenger are all most the same thing & do the same things as well (I don’t even think Windows messenger works that great now days) If you where me I would just remove it :) as you don’t need it as you got MSN messenger. |

Windows Messenger is a program used for sending messages between networked computers and should be stopped in it's tracks as it is bad news (it has nothing to do with MSN Messenger) and should never have been enabled by default. grc.com have a little program for disabling it if you are not brave enough to go into the services and disable it. |
