399018 2005-10-25 01:24:00 When my wife's laptop boots up, down on the bottom right (System Tray) a couple of pop up balloons tell us that a wireless network is not connected...or something like that, plus another popup that I cannot recall. How do I get rid of these reminders? They are irrelevant to what is installed and (not) connected).

Thanks. There must be a very simple way to turn these things off but I cannot find how to do it.

399019 2005-10-25 01:48:00 Here (support.microsoft.com) is a link to disable them BUT it disables them totally, can't do individual balloons.

There is a site that has a file that you run to disable them but can't find it at the moment :(

...Errrr...ahhhh.... you are, in effect, repeating my question.

John & CYAbro - thanks. Looks like a registry edit job, so I will do a System Check Point first. Typical of Windows to put an annoying pop up and then make it difficult to correct.

Yep, that worked. Thanks. It has been awhile since I have edited the Registry but it wasn't so hard after all.

No I'm not. Go into Device Manager and DISABLE the wireless hardware there.
And also the other thing - can't tell you where to disable that cause you said you couldn't remeber what it was. This disables the spefic thing rather than the general windows notification service that is alerting you.

Thank you - that was the sort of specific advice I was looking for. Without such an explanation, the previous answer was of no help.
