398801 2005-10-24 05:27:00 Hi
I've just tried to connect my two computers with an ethernet connection and i keep coming up with an error when i try to access one of the computers from another. this error states " \\Home is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission.
The network path was not found"

398802 2005-10-24 05:32:00 Theres' hitloads of responses from google about probs with ICS. Just been doing it myself (where it's not a network) mark c (247)
398803 2005-10-24 05:36:00 I;m not quite sure what u mean by ICS (I'm thinking it means internet connection sharing?), but i only want to transfer files over between the computers, i don't really want to share the internet connection. chronicliar (9111)
398804 2005-10-24 05:36:00 Are both machines running XP Home or is one running XP Pro? gibler (49)
398805 2005-10-24 05:36:00 1. Make sure the workgroups are the same

2. If any firewalls are on either, either one need to be added to the firewall.

3. If you're not using a ethernet hub, u need a crossover cable.

4. Have u entered the ip addresses in manually, on both under the LAN icons/properties/TCP/IP?

5. And enabled file/printing sharing, and then created a folder on both, and shared it? (DON'T share the whole hard drive).

398807 2005-10-24 05:57:00 ok, in the last few minutes, i've changed some settings on my other computer which have caused it to not load windows and give me an error saying "unmountable boot volume"
Any ideas guys?

398808 2005-10-24 06:32:00 Well what settings, did you change?? Speedy Gonzales (78)
398809 2005-10-24 08:16:00 only the tcp/ip settings u advised earlier, and i turned sharing on for some more folders. I also turned zone alarm off on both pc's and turned off the windows firewall as well. chronicliar (9111)
398810 2005-10-24 08:29:00 I am totally clueless about "unmountable boot volome" but this (www.google.co.nz) is what google throws up. mark c (247)
