398768 2005-10-24 03:34:00 Basically used as a internal loop for testing you own network device. If you ping it, it is pinging the machine your on. Battleneter (60)

Actually that was a reasonable question. Technically we can Google everything and there would be no need for this forum.

398774 2005-10-30 20:33:00 Sorry for delay in responding. Have been offline for a few days. In reply to Pine-o-cleen: I had already Googled it, but couldn't make any sense of what was presented, which is my I asked. (I'm not a computer whiz).
To Battleneter: thanks, but I'm still confused. I visit a UK football site and quite often in the bottom left of my screen I see the message "downloading from 127.0.0.1" Is this harmful? I do have another PC networked to my new one. Running Win XP on a Dell Dimension 4600, Mozilla Firefox, NAV, Zone Alarm Pro, Counterspy. KB.

HEY!

Sometimes we just like the friendly answers that we get here instead of Googling something.

Human interaction is just more fun and upbuilding for all parties.
