398565 2005-10-23 10:56:00 After some months now I've tired of the constant fan noise from my GV-RX60P128D (Gigabyte, ATI Radeon) PCI Express 16 graphics card....
From the manual (downloaded it in colour pdf) it looks like the fan power supply (red cable) is from the graphics card and NOT direct from the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-8I925XE-G)

Can anyone suggest where I should start when trying to find a way to exercise some control over this fan - like should there be access to the graphics card bios in the 'normal' bios as accessed at startup ? I very rarely do anything graphics intensive so there should (?) be little need for that fan to be constantly winding away.....

398566 2005-10-23 12:13:00 depends if your ati card supports it but try ati tool (www.techpowerup.com) gibler (49)
398567 2005-10-23 19:12:00 Get another fan for it. One less noisy - its a better solution than messing with the speed of it. pctek (84)

I use it to control the Overclocking and speed of the fan on my 6800GT. It has a 2D and 3D settings for fan speed.

According to the text it supports ATI as well, it may not control your ATI fan speed, but its certainly worth a shot. Just watch those temperatures in 3D mode, you probably don't want to lower the speed much, but certainly in 2D (desktop) you should be able to get more silent running.
