| 398688 | 2005-10-24 05:27:00 | You could have a faulty XP installation. I have used these Samsung units in machines I built for friends and they work quite well; however recently a machine running XP experienced burn outs on rewritable DVDs and errors on CR RW's irrespective of fitting replacement C D burners. This all came right [3 hours later] with a complete re-install of the software on to the hard-drive. |

You're first option is to try different media. The Samsung webiste will have a list of recommended media for that particular model of burner, go there and buy a two or three different brands/types based on the list, then test them. PS. Goddie, what's this "disk" thing you're talking about? ;) |

Disc came into the English language in the mid-17th century, from the Latin discus, and like already-existing words like whisc or risc, it was spelled with c; disk arose some time later, and was based on the original Greek root diskus." Disk is commonly used to describe a Hard Drive Disk or floppy disk and disc is used to describe removable media, CD Rom Disc. Something to do with who first coined the phrases to describe their products, a la European or US, IIRC. |

| 398693 | 2005-10-25 03:19:00 | what kind of software did you use for burning? Who, me? I have Nero Burning Rom, but haven't used it for months. On Windows I use NTI CD/DVD Creator, it's simple to use and, on Linux K3B, which is very good. |
