| 399718 | 2005-10-27 08:43:00 | AVG Pro 5 Multi licence had mail checking rights and set up my mail to be checked by them.I was only using one machine. LAN was not connected. I never could get mail from Xtra my ISP to download after installing the AVG program. I have deleted AVG and my Outlook Express 6.0 mail account. Reinstalled the Outlook Express mail account with Xtra and could send mail last night but still cannot receive mail from Xtra to Outlook Express or through Mailwasher Pro. Both AVG and Mailwasher have claimed in the past that they are not the cause.Xtra said today they cannot help and advised me to go to a " registered professional". My past experiences with such were not very good. I am using XP Home on a DSE 2000 PC 256MB Ram 80 GB HDD. Grateful for any help. Donmac |

Make sure the boxes "Login using secure etc" are not ticked. Disable any firewall for a check to see if this is the cause of the problem. Did AVG come with a firewall, and are you sure you uninstalled it completely. You could also try reinstalling AVG again and in the Install option do a manual install and don't install the mail scanning option. |

| 399721 | 2005-10-28 09:02:00 | That seems a bit drastic just for an email problem. Why don't you download Thunderbird and set that up and see if that works. It is a better email program anyway. www.mozilla.org |
