400327 2005-10-30 03:12:00 hI,

I had an urge to crank out ms flight sim 2002 for the first time since getting my new PC at the beginning of the year. I had to go to DSE and get a "game port to USB" adapter and when I plugged it all in XP detects the stick and it comes up as a "4 button, 4 axis" stick which, I thought, was good. when I went to calibrate it it doesnt show any movement in the calibration box.

I had a google and there seems to be conflicting reports on whether the ms sidewinder precision pro is compatible with XP. I also searched the forums here but there doesnt seem to be any other posts relating to this problem.

This (dse.resultspage.com) is the link to the adapter I bought.

I know that someone here will be able to help
Thanks in advance

mik

400328 2005-10-30 03:24:00 Can't help you with your sidewinder, but I would suggest you get a Logitech extreme 3d pro.
It's a usb connection.
I use it with ms flight sim and I can't fault it.

400330 2005-10-30 03:44:00 I know it's a silly question, but have you installed the drivers for it? JJJJJ (528)
400331 2005-10-30 03:57:00 As far as I was aware the drivers needed should all be in XP. Like I said before, XP finds the stick but it just wont accept the movements when I try and calibrate it. miknz (3731)
400332 2005-10-30 04:08:00 Both the DSE site and this one:
www.usb-port.com
mention software drivers are included, so I'd have thought a driver was required to be installed?

400333 2005-10-30 04:26:00 There was no disk in the box!

Is this (www.pccables.com) bad news?
miknz (3731)
400334 2005-10-30 04:27:00 Well I tried a sidewinder and I had to load drivers from the included disk.

I didn't like the sidewinder so I swapped it for the Logitech.

400335 2005-10-30 04:31:00 Have a look here for drivers

400336 2005-10-30 04:49:00 Drivers are included with XP, and the old driver pack for your era stick is not XP compatible.

Simply select Sidewinder (auto-detect) from the list of controllers in your control panel.
