| 400347 | 2005-10-30 16:28:00 | I have exactly the same adapter here at home. There is no disc that comes with it, and XP automatically picked up the Logitech Wingman Extreme joystick I have (non usb). Incidentally, it was also picked up on Linux and worked. I would suggest as the online manual says, unplug it, and try it on each different mode, then plug it back in. Mine was set on mode 1, maybe yours is different and needs to be set on either 2,3, or 4. I agree with your choice of joystick. But I still say it should have the manufacturer's drivers installed. Not the win xp drivers. In my case win recognised a joystick but would not set it up properly. Run the installation disk and all works properly. I prefer to use USB connection. A gameport is obsolete. How is XP supposed to recognise and set up something that was made after XP. An example. My new LCD monitor worked as soon as I plugged it in. But it produced a much better image a couple of days later when I remembered to run the installation disk. |

| 400348 | 2005-10-30 20:12:00 | Looks like I should of posted here earlier as there is alot of bull**** going on here. I run a MS Sidewinder J/S and a MS Force Feedback wheel on Windows XP Home. I use the J/S for FS 2004. I run the wheel on USb and the J/S on a Gameport. The reason being I do it like this is because running both on USB caused a bit of conflict between the two. You don't need any drivers as they are included in XP. As Metla said it should autodetect in the games controller window. You should have a gameport on your motherboard. Trevor :) |
