400632 2005-10-31 14:27:00 ok, i have a new pc, and a month ago it sometimes restarts by its self..
Pentium 4 3.2ghz
1024mb RAM DDR2 533mhz
P5GD2-Deluxe Motherboard
VGA Nvidia GF6600 PCI-E
200GB HD SATA MAXTOR
120GB HD SEAGATE IDE
usually when im playing warcraft3, sometimes on winamp, and sometimes watching anime..
but USUALLY on warcraft3..
ive run memtest86 and it just gave me no error..
my bios resets automatically (strange) for like 3 days, then it loads defaults..
so i have to be configuring all the time..
ive flashed bios yesterday to 1007, but it didnt solve though.....

400633 2005-10-31 18:13:00 Are you using the latest version of the Nvidia drivers??

You didnt update the video drivers thru Windowsupdate did you?

Are all updates installed for XP?

Do you think this would apply?

www.microsoft.com

Since I think your CPU's a Prescott?

Do some programs stop responding?? Or does it just crash?

Also, right mouse on my computer / advanced tab / settings. Untick automatically restart. See what it does then.

400634 2005-10-31 18:50:00 yeah i've got all later updates and drivers (nvidia and i tested many of them thinking it was the drivers but wasn't) and my cpu is a prescott but it's not temperature, i'm sure. i've unchecked the box (automatically restart). let's see where it goes. and yes, it just crashes. slP-senpai (9174)
400635 2005-11-01 15:25:00 ok, my pc is not booting now, but cant it be dangerous to my system ?
microsoft just wouldnt put that option if it was waste of time..
thanks!

400636 2005-11-01 15:40:00 Have you got access to some swappable replaceable hardware pieces, eg RAM chip, Power Supply Unit? If you can borrow some bits and gently replace each item, by trial and error you might be able to isolate the issue.

Have you tried a Windows Repair option by booting via the Windows CD?

400637 2005-11-02 14:46:00 I tried all things hehe..
And now i just realized that my pc boots with that option turned off.. :S

400638 2005-11-18 15:19:00 I'm having the exact same problem. vanydotk (9175)

These 2 are usually consistant with driver issue/clash and/or RAM. Probabaly graphics... uninstall the graphics driver, run an app (from memory its called Driver Cleaner?) reboot, then reinstall the latest driver

Incidentally, just because memtest said there wasn't any faults; is not a good reason to discount RAM as being the fault, it may still be the issue. Swap out with known good RAM if the above (driver) idea doesn't work
