400601 2005-10-31 08:00:00 If I have the IP address and subnet mask, how can I determine how many subnets there are on the network? I've looked at a table with information, but just couldn't see the logic or a pattern.
Help appreciated.

400602 2005-10-31 08:20:00 There should only be 1 subnet on a network. 255.255.255.0 for the main PC.

And every PC connected to the main PC, needs this subnet mask.

So, depending on how many PC's are networked,

ie: like if u have 6 PC's you'll have the main PC with the subnet mask, and the same subnet mask will be under the other 5 PC's lan / properties / TCP/IP entry.

400603 2005-10-31 09:24:00 You can go to dos (Command Prompt in Accesories). Then type IPCONFIG /ALL. Do this on every PC to determine the IP and subnet details. If the subnet masks must all be the same to join the network. MAXGEAR (9171)
400604 2005-10-31 09:58:00 Okay, I have this information

255.255.192.0 = 2 Subnets
255.255.224.0 = 6
255.255.240.0 = 14
255.255.248.0 = 30

Converting the subnet masks to binary numbers will give me the ip addresses, but i just don't see how it's determined how many subnets a particular sn mask has. i see there is a gap of 4 between the first two, then a gap of 8, then a gap of 16, i see a pattern, but how is it determined?
