| 401603 | 2005-11-03 04:40:00 | Gidday all, I recently got a DG834G ADSL Modem Router Switch Firewall 802.11g to replace the D-Link modem that came with the Telecom Xtra package. I have follow all set-up instructions - proper DNS names, PPPoA, VCI, VPI etc. but the thing will just not connect to the internet - it can detect the adsl being there but won't/can't acquire an IP. (Telecom don't support modems not shipped with their service). :yuck: I have tried all reasonably sensible settings to no avail. I asked at work and 3 guys say there is 1 "GOTCHA" setting before it will work... but as it was so long ago they set theirs up...they have forgotten what it was! Anyone out there who has experienced & knows how to fix this issue? |

| 401605 | 2005-11-03 13:33:00 | I have the exact same router, and mine works fine. For me it was simply a case of entering me username and password. Maybe you are using the wrong username, check with your ISP for setting up routers, sometimes your normal username is not what you need to enter. The username for my router is not just my normal user name, its "my user name@my ISP.com". I don't think there is any GOTCHA settings, like I said mine was just a case of entering my username and password, so I recommend checking with you ISP to make sure your login information is correct... | Adam678 (6880) | ||
| 401606 | 2005-11-03 19:50:00 | Try redoing your username and password. I made a blue when I set up mine by inadvertantly adding a space after my username. | Greg (193) | ||
| 401607 | 2005-11-04 04:33:00 | I have re done my username & password (& practically every other setting)several times - no joy. :eek: I reconnect & check the settings on the Old D-Link and am up & going straight away. |
