401291 2005-11-02 04:25:00 Hi, I've recently re-installed ME, after following FAQ45 on formatting C: (having backed up the good stuff to partition D:). All seemed to go well. The floppy I'd made worked and then the CD that came with the computer did it's install - but it will only work in safe mode.
I've been into BIOS and returned hard drive to first boot, but again no luck. Can anyone help .......please, and thanks in advance.Sarum.
PS I scanned and defragged before starting

401292 2005-11-02 04:36:00 odds are it just looks like safe mode. dos it have the help and support screen on when you start up? if not i suspect it only looks like safe mode due to no video card drivers have been installed yet.

install motherboard drivers then all other drivers.

401295 2005-11-03 02:49:00 IF IT'S truly goin to safe mode........winME puts the 'help and support' screen up when you get there and it says......'safe mode' in each of the four corners of the screen.......if it only LOOKS like safe mode but doesnt do those things then its NOT safe mode jsut missing the vid drivers....... drcspy (146)
401296 2005-11-04 08:32:00 Thanks drcspy - it wasn't booting into safe mode as you and Tweak suggested.
And a million thanks to Tweak. Drivers were the problem, works like new now.
