401099 2005-11-03 01:55:00 I have Adobe Acrobat. Push come to shove, I can open it and use the Convert to RTF. It won't get your graphics (which you could grab with a trial version of SnagIt from www.techsmith.com), but it'll get your text, and I think it'll be fairly well formatted. Looks like they have PM here, so you could PM me for my email addy if you're interested. :)With Acrobat 7 professional at least, the "save as word document" which is RTF does also capture at least some graphics.

BTW, you wouldn't be offering to supply a pirate copy of Acrobat would you? No, of course not...

401100 2005-11-03 01:59:00 Sorry, Tony, no. I said "I can open it and use the Convert to RTF". I'm not sure how you read that as "I can supply you with a pirated copy of Acrobat".
:D

401102 2005-11-03 03:02:00 For at least 5 years, I have been moderating at a forum with 36 times the number of members of this one, Tony. One of the things I PM people about is when they "assume" that someone is using pirated software or would like to pirate software, such as when someone says "How can I download Microsoft Word?" and someone assumes the OP means they want to get it illegally.

Making assumptions like that can make people feel quite unwelcome. You question their integrity when they have not given you any reason to do so.

This forum doesn't allow file uploads. I do not post my email in open forums for obvious reasons. How else would this person get their file to me if I don't invite them to PM me for my email?

401104 2005-11-03 04:52:00 There is a way to take a . pdf and convert it to anything you want .

I use SmartBridge and change the pdf to . doc files all the time . . . it works!

I use it with my flatbed scanner after printing out the pdf . Simple .

401106 2005-11-03 08:30:00 A nightmare - depending on the programme's ability to translate in to recognisable text, how many and what sort of graphics on the page and so on. I tried similar in earlier years and the results were awful. Times 300. Buy the book. Scouse (83)
401107 2005-11-03 15:25:00 Yeah . . . . . . 300 pages is pushing it a bit . . . but TextBridge ( . nuance . com/textbridge/" target="_blank">www . nuance . com) is a cumulative intellegence-type device . As you use it, it gathers insight and gets better and better . There are times when it cannot figure out a phrase, but then it asks for help and once learned, it really is quite intuitive .

Most anything that is pdf is going to be text anyway, so the transition to . doc files is pretty straightforward . After the learning curve is flattened a little, it gets easier .

I think I posted the name as SmartBridge . . . it isn't . . . it's TextBridge . OOPS

401108 2005-11-03 17:59:00 Most anything that is pdf is going to be text anywayI think that is a bit of a stretch - for instance I have created a 500+ page application user guide that ended up as PDF where most of the pages were a mixture of text and graphics (screenshots, callouts etc).
