| 402094 | 2005-11-05 03:49:00 | Am about to connect friends to broadband(I know you won't believe it,but she knows less than me). She has been told that as she has more than 5 phones that they have done something that no longer requires filters, what would that be about? Thank you in anticipation. |

| 402096 | 2005-11-05 03:57:00 | Whoever told her that. Did she ask them why? The telecom man told her,she has no idea why. The chap was to install it,but modem hadn't arrived. So he did what he did to the telephone connections. |

Having the line split costs a lot more, but you do not require any inline filters. It is often offered when you are having problems with your burgler alarm and SKY etc interferring with the signal or when you have more than X amount of devices plugged into the phone line. Think it is also better when you have a borderline signal because you live further away from the exchange IIRC. | Jen (38) | ||

| 402099 | 2005-11-05 04:02:00 | If you have a monitored alarm or more than five phones plugged in, you are meant to get a central splitter installed (by one of Telecom's contractors). That is to say, someone comes in to your house and rewires the cables so that voice and data are split before the phone jacks. Pros: You won't need a filter for every actively used phone jack They'll set up you'll ASDL modem/router for you too. Cons: It costs more and you can only plug the modem/router into one jack (i.e. a dedicated data outlet). |

This is not the same person keeping a draft horse in the OE folder is it Cicero? Might need a Vet as well in that case, with a set of gelding irons.... |
