| 402104 | 2005-11-05 00:45:00 | Dear friends, this has been asked before but the answers do not solve my problem. My brand new PB Tech computer has a 120 GB WDV UMDA-5 hard disk in it and I try to install Win XP. Halfway installation it restarts, and then blue screen with the famous Unmountable_boot_volume error. STOP:000000ED (0x83B40E30,0xC0000185,0x00000000,0x00000000) I did everything Microsoft advises like rebooting, run chkdsk and use fixboot. but still nothing. since I can not imagine that it will be the 40 - 80 pin thing, I wonder what can I do now?? Chkdsk tells me it is all fine. Thanks for help! Jo |

| 402107 | 2005-11-05 02:07:00 | It comes with a virgin raw HDD, I install Win XP on it from a disk that I have from my old computer. It stalls, phoned the guys, think it is not a software problem. Will see. cheers |

| 402108 | 2005-11-05 02:14:00 | run a diagnostic on the harddrive......... | drcspy (146) | ||
| 402109 | 2005-11-05 02:18:00 | Why bother? It's a brand new drive. Get a good brand new drive. ;)The only diagnostic I would run is on memory. Flakey memory seems to be the most common cause of odd error messages from OS installations, because that's about the toughest test of memory. | Graham L (2) | ||
