402089 2005-11-06 07:44:00 Am using "NC International" DVD's and Verbatim DL Plus CD's. Both seem fine -- but I am no expert that's for sure !

402090 2005-11-06 07:48:00 Thanks for all the responses and posted links. Looks like its very difficult to know what you are getting until you put the disk in your machine and run a check. I've got some Imation DVD-R 8x which turn out to be CMCMAG (real no nos by all accounts) whereas Imation have also used recommended makes like Taiyo Yuden.
Btw does anybody know whether "Made in XXXX" on the packaging refers to the place of manufacture of the disks or to the place where they were packaged?

Martynz

Theoretically "Made in ___" has to refer to the country of manufacture. Some brands get around this for other goods, such as food manufacturers, by saying "Packed in ____ from local and imported ingredients".

Generally if the disks are Made in Japan then they're of v. good quality. This certainly applies to Imation, Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ricoh.
Unfortunately, these disks are hard to get hold of as most places sell ones manufactured in Taiwan/India which are of lesser quality.

402093 2005-11-07 23:51:00 I've always liked Kodak branded media. Problem is, theyre nowhere to be found

Unfortuntly they ceased manufacture about 5 years ago. They came back briefly last year under the Kodak brand but were crap OEM media. I only use Verbatime Datalife for both CD and DVD..
