401831 2005-11-04 10:28:00 Hi
I have been trying to set up this device but can not get onto the internet through my xtra broadband connection, even though I entered the settings xtra gave me.
Xtra help apparently do not support this router and advised to get hold of the manufacturers help line.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Who do I call? There is only a US number on the package.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards

I am not familiar with this router, but it should work fine. Sometimes the username/password that Xtra tell you they have setup is wrong. Get Xtra to double check the username/password. Once that is verified, check that the router is set to PPPoA VC-Mux
VPI: 0
VCI: 100

If the router is not supported in NZ it maybe configured for the States or Asia. Anyway have checked the above settings, try to connect to Xtra. Xtra can check to see if the router has attempted to connect.

401834 2006-02-14 22:53:00 I have recently purchase the WAG54G v2 and am also having trouble connection to xtra with it - my existing D-Link ADSL modem works fine, so I'm pretty sure its a config issue with the WAG54G. All the normal stuff looks right, Encapsulation= RFC 2364 PPPoA, VPI=0, VCI=100, username and password correct, etc.

Does anyone know any other setting for the WAG54G that need to be done to get it to work with xtra?

401835 2006-02-14 23:25:00 Does the Linksys have a log you can view to see if it tried to connect? dolby digital (5073)
401836 2006-02-14 23:50:00 This is the same as my router, and it works well. I have the V1 model, so when using remote access I have to disconnect, then enter differ username etc to connect to my work.
The V2 model uses pv's, which are the same as profiles. Make sure you have the tick in enable now under the 'PV' connection number!!
Remember to save the settings, before going to the status tab to connect

All other details as posted by other posters is correct.

401837 2006-02-15 08:37:00 Yes I have the PV checked, but still no luck! (I'm currently online with my old D-Link).
Do you know what should be set for items like:
Multiplexing: LLC or VC?
QoS Type: CBR, UBR, or VBR? - currently set to UBR

And when the changes are saved, when do they take effect - immediately or do I need to restart the Gateway?

401838 2006-02-15 11:10:00 Customer Support 0800 080 015 you well probibly be taken overseas. I had a faulty Linksys router and spoke to someone in the Phillipines, very frustrating as I had trouble understanding him and vice versa. Bought it through Ascent and changed it for a US Robotics Router as the stock of the Linksys had run out and they were not getting anymore for 6 weeks.

According to ihug website multiplexing should be set to VC.Looking at the d-link setup configuration at their website it says it should be PPPOA/VC so presumably i would set it at VC.

I cannot find any info about the QOS type.Sorry.But try the other two.

401840 2006-02-15 20:35:00 OP, VC & UBR are correct....PPPoA also.

Saved setting take effect immediately. I can only think you have a defective unit, though I have yet to come accross one myself after over 2 dozen installations.

Silly question i know, but you are sure of the username/password, does the unit do anything...ie: authentication failed, trying to connect etc!

If you changed your pw at any state on the D-Link, remember you dont have to do anything when plugging in the D-Link, the details are already saved.

What are the status lights doing. DSL = Green, Internet = Red?
