| 401742 | 2005-11-04 02:14:00 | Some time ago somebody asked how to scan all his files from the filing cabinet. He got the obvious advice to use any photographic program and was also directed to a OCR if he needed one. Early this year I decided to clear out my filing cabinet - loads got dumped and I also started on scanning to get rid of even more. Quite honestly it was a reasonable success. I got lots more drawer space. But enthusiasm waned once I had enough room. I stopped doing it. Now I wonder are there people out there who have been very good and made real attempts to produce something like the paperless filing cabinet. If so what advice do they give. All tips would be appreciated as some day I am going to continue this monotonous job. Tom |

Perhaps you have a local teen who could use a few bucks and would be glad to make a few dollars each week scanning your documents for you? Or maybe even a retired person? When are they gonna come up with a shredder/scanner? Now THERE's an idea! I'm off to www.launchyourinvention.com! Edit: Uh oh!! I thought I'd check and it's a real site! :D |

But unfortunately I'm not one of those with excess funds - in fact I am a pensioner myself so I have no excuse for not doing the work. Funny enough I think I would be quite happy doing something similar for others for a few sheckels but the thought of doing it for my own overstocked cabinets is just too much. I have nearly finished putting all the family photogrpahs from years past into the commputer though - over 4000 of them - all carefully captioned too. Now I'm off to polish my halo. Tom |
