402610 2005-11-07 02:17:00 Hi,

After having my emails disappear from Mozilla Thunderbird twice, for no reason, I've decided to use Eudora now. I wasn't able to solve the original problem (which I posted here on PF1), and it just happened again - and I've lost some important emails.

I would like to know how to import the address book I had in Thunderbird, rather than me having to type each address separately into the Eudora address book.

And also how to import the emails from the Thunderbird folder?

cheers,
caffy

Use IMAP in your email setup and I'd doubt very much if you will lose email.

Tip 2

import into eudora from thunderbird (eudorabb.qualcomm.com)

Could you explain more about difference between POP and IMAP? I have always picked POP because I was told to (and assumed I could only use that option).

thanks,
caffy

402613 2005-11-08 03:24:00 The bold bit is the diff .

Imap

(Internet Message Access Protocol) IMAP is gradually replacing POP as the main protocol used by email clients in communicating with email servers . Using IMAP an email client program can not only retrieve email but can also manipulate messages stored on the server, without having to actually retrieve the messages . So messages can be deleted, have their status changed, multiple mail boxes can be managed, etc .

Pop

Post office protocol . POP3 makes the world's e-mails work . It enables ISPs, for instance, to store e-mails until the subscriber wishes to download them from the server to the PC . Usually when this happens the downloaded e-mails are deleted from the server which held them available . This is not the case with web-based e-mail services such as those provided by Hot Mail or Yahoo etc; with these the e-mails are left on the -- basically -- public server till the subscriber deletes them
