| 402610 | 2005-11-07 02:17:00 | Hi, After having my emails disappear from Mozilla Thunderbird twice, for no reason, I've decided to use Eudora now. I wasn't able to solve the original problem (which I posted here on PF1), and it just happened again - and I've lost some important emails. I would like to know how to import the address book I had in Thunderbird, rather than me having to type each address separately into the Eudora address book. And also how to import the emails from the Thunderbird folder? cheers, caffy |

| 402611 | 2005-11-07 03:13:00 | Tip 1 Use IMAP in your email setup and I'd doubt very much if you will lose email. Tip 2 import into eudora from thunderbird (eudorabb.qualcomm.com) |

| 402613 | 2005-11-08 03:24:00 | The bold bit is the diff . Imap (Internet Message Access Protocol) IMAP is gradually replacing POP as the main protocol used by email clients in communicating with email servers . Using IMAP an email client program can not only retrieve email but can also manipulate messages stored on the server, without having to actually retrieve the messages . So messages can be deleted, have their status changed, multiple mail boxes can be managed, etc . Pop Post office protocol . POP3 makes the world's e-mails work . It enables ISPs, for instance, to store e-mails until the subscriber wishes to download them from the server to the PC . Usually when this happens the downloaded e-mails are deleted from the server which held them available . This is not the case with web-based e-mail services such as those provided by Hot Mail or Yahoo etc; with these the e-mails are left on the -- basically -- public server till the subscriber deletes them |
