Emerge --search office finds : app-office/openoffice Latest version available: 1.1.4-r1 Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ] Size of downloaded files: 222,339 kB Homepage: http://www.openoffice.org/ Description: OpenOffice.org, a full office productivity suite. License: || ( LGPL-2 SISSL-1.1 ) Going to the open office site lets me download the installer but would much rather compile it myself. How do I tell portage to use a newer version? |

| 402381 | 2005-11-06 05:16:00 | The latest version (packages.gentoo.org) is still marked as testing and not stable. You can bypass that and get the testing version by using: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge openoffice-2.0.0 Although I would add a --pretend to that initially to see what else will be included. I *think* tacking on the -2.0.0 will get you that version and not the 1.1.5 version which is also marked as testing, but might be wrong. Can't remember if emerge just goes for the latest testing package or not. Perhaps try a --pretend with and without the version number. More information on using ~x86 here (www.gentoo.org) |
