402193 2005-11-05 23:16:00 Hi guys,

I have a new computer, a PB Technolgies, it comes with the ASUS A8V-MX motherboard that holds an Athlon 64FX processor. It has 512 MB of 400 MHz DDR ram. On board graphics.
My monitor is a AOC LM 925 that worked great with my old shoebox computer.

Now since I geared up the whole thing yesterday, i find some extremely irritating features. The most important is a slow screen buildup that always comes from the top to bottom. scrolling through an internet page is a pain, as there is also a strong delay between the scrolling with the mouse wheel and its effect on the screen. Stopping to scroll with the scroll wheel will keep scrolling top to bottom refreshing for another minute or so. Things get even far worse if I set Firefox to 'smooth scrolling'.

What could be the cause of this??

the internet connection is working great wireless, belkin g at 27 Mbps

cheers

402194 2005-11-05 23:31:00 Sounds like you havent installed the video chipset driver, Windows would have assigned a generic driver and its struggling to redraw the image.

This happens when the hardware is too new for XP to suport it.

402197 2005-11-05 23:51:00 there is a possibility to install: "VIA Hyperion Pro" with options: VIA machine, VIA Combo 5 driver and VIA raid Config utility. it is strange though, sine in the first instance it displayed : 1628: failed to complete installation, and the license agreement box remained completely empty.
Which of the three options shall i install, if not all?
