2005-11-06 19:22:00 | Hi all I have a client who is putting images to her website, where they get resized and resampled, now the problem is that any gifs with transparent bits get the transparent bits turned black. Now she doesn't need transparency on the gifs, as a matter of fact it would be a lot easier if the transparent section was white, is there an application that is free and can do this as i have had no luck with irfanview, as it keeps saving as what i assume was the original colour not white Thanks

2005-11-06 19:46:00 | You could duplicate the image and Save As a jpg. If the background colour is still the same copy the image and paste onto a second image that's just a plain white square, and save it. | Greg (193) | |

2005-11-06 23:26:00 | I can't work out how to do the that in irfanview or paint, and believe me I have tried I have an old version of paintshop pro 5 here and i can kludge it useing the edit palette function, but if there is a simpler way, i'd be all ears

2005-11-06 23:27:00 | The problem with saving as a jpeg is that the transparent colour isn't always white in a few of the images it is mustardy yellow which doesn't look all that great | Morgenmuffel (187) | |
2005-11-06 23:34:00 | Well, I'm happy to help if I can. I've got the tools here, but I'm not sure I understand about the yellow. You trying to get rid of it or keep it? | Dreamboat (9170) | |

2005-11-07 02:40:00 | Hi Rob First thing i tried, but it only works if the transparent colour is white The problem i have is that quite often the transparent colour is a different colour like yellow, and then when I choose not to save the transparent colour it saves it with the yellow, and on some gifs the design is quite intricate so removing the color manually is not easy, it's dead easy in fireworks but thats not free, so it's not an option at this point, I will probably just give them my copy of paintshop pro5 (it was free on a cover cd) as I can do it using that, but it is not as user friendly as i would like it to be Cheers see here (www.nigel.geek.nz)
