| 402231 | 2005-11-06 02:52:00 | I had (removed it due to this issue) Windows Vista (Beta 1) on my machine, dual-booting with XP Pro. Now Vista worked fine (better than I expected in fact), but if I restarted from Vista and tried to go back to XP (my main OS, as very little is supported by Vista yet) my network port seemed to be disabled. XP reported the port as active and nothing wrong with it, but I kept getting the icon saying network cable unplugged (it wasn't). At first I thought it was the cable, so I switched the cable, but that didn't fix it. Thought it was my modem, but the modem works fine connected to the other PC. Then after a bit of testing I discovered that it only happened after I'd used Vista... and lasted for about 6-12 hours before the network would work again. Has anybody else had a similar issue? Network seems to work fine in Vista, so I'm thinking that somehow it is shutting down the network device a little too well when I log off... One thing I didn't try though was whether the network still works in Vista after this problem occurs... Mike. |
