402210 2005-11-06 00:02:00 Im redesigning a web site I administer and was wondering if there is a way you can incorporate pathing of favicon into the css properties.

I think this may not be possible as css controls the "formatting of a page" and the display of the icon in the address bar is outside of the specifaction of page formatting.

I can use the <link rel........> tag within the head of of the html but at the moment it seems to interfering of another <link rel.......>tag (pointing at the css page).

It seems that the host of the site doesnt support the favicon which I suspect is a microsoft extension (Im about to email them).

Thanks for any ideas on how to acheive the "icon in the address bar"

402213 2005-11-06 05:41:00 So the favicon shows up when you preview it? but when host it you don't see anything?...then it must be the browser.... Mr Wetzyl (362)
402214 2005-11-06 06:08:00 yes it shows on the loading of the page (index.htm) but if you go to another page it looses the url icon.
I have placed the icon in both root and in the directory of the other pages are stored as well as using <link rel.......>.

Google research seems to point at site design as it is an frames site ( frames dont play nice with favicon setups ) might be time for a design rethink.
