402884 2005-11-09 03:36:00 Hello All

I am just wondering how is Orcon dial-up & broadband?

Has Orcon improved there broadband i.e. so there’s not as much lag as users where reporting before???

How’s Orcon dial-up? Is it any good?

Thanks :)

402885 2005-11-09 03:47:00 I am on Orcon Broadband 256/128 uncapped for 49.95 per month.

The main word in there is UNCAPPED

Very good service and only the odd outage. About 3-4 times it has been out since last Xmas and only for a short period.

You can get a 2 Mbit plan but you may have to settle for a cap unless you want to pay heaps.

Some of my friends who use the dial up service are quite happy too.

I just want a plan that suits me and no nasty surprises at the end of the month.

As far as lag is concerned I don't play online games so can't comment.

I would recommend them to anyone.

402887 2005-11-09 04:36:00 Yep works fine for me too. On the 256 Unlimited service. Lag isn't too bad at all, hovers around 80ms for NZ based counter strike servers for me. No complaints there. roddy_boy (4115)
402888 2005-11-09 06:09:00 Watch out for the nasty traffic shaping..

Gamers have been complaining - see the Orcon forums. I can't recommend them.

Dunno about dial-up, but you'd hope that ISPs have dial-up sorted by now.

402889 2005-11-09 07:15:00 The traffic shaping is a slight annoyance, but it is worth it to get an unlimited plan with acceptable latency (constant 80ms to NZ game servers). Greven (91)
