402824 2005-11-08 22:22:00 Hi
I have a brandnew monitor about 1 month old, it is philips 107/S6 after a while my monitor starts making keee noise. i think it can be due to resolution because the kee noise also starts up when i start playing battlefield2.
my gpu is ATI x800GT. then monitor is connected via the gfx card output.

402825 2005-11-08 22:25:00 Just out of curiosity is it a high pitched sort of whine?
I got a 107x2 which every so often makes a whining noise.

402826 2005-11-08 22:43:00 My philips monitor (17" something or rather) used to do the same thing. I just hit the side of it and it quickly learnt to shut up :D. DangerousDave (697)
402827 2005-11-08 23:20:00 lower the resolution in battlefield2 and see if the sound stays there
or just put desktop resolution up higher then if the sound comes on..then ur mon prob don't like that high resolution..

402828 2005-11-08 23:58:00 I've found that adjusting the refresh rate of my 17" CRT monitor eliminated the high whine that it had when the refresh rate was set at the recommended 85Hz. On XP this can be done under Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Monitor.

Note too that your games can also adjust the refresh rate, which is why you will only notice it for some games. In that instance see if you can adjust the options within the game.
