2005-11-08 09:21:00 | I have a very long, complicated and very expensive problem. I bought Battlefield 2 for my computer on DVD. I needed a DVD player so i bought one from DSE. Here is the details of it LITE-ON COMBO SOHC-5232K. So we tried the game only to find out that the graphics card wasnt good enough. So i bought a new one. Its a nvidia Geforce 6600gt. Its a AGP one and is 128mb ram. So the game worked then. It got in and i started to play a game. The game loaded but when i started to play the ground was in the air and the air was on the ground. It was all scrambled. So i checked the back of the box (which i should have done first) and noticed the ram wasnt enough. So i upgraded it to 512mb ram. The module name is GC7CD905. So i installed it and tried it out and the same thing happened. So there was a program on the game that showed me what the game needed to run. Well the game needs 1.7 GHz and my computer has only AMD ATHLON XP 1.5 GHz. But i dont see the problem with that. Doesnt that just mean it would run slow instead of the picture being stuffed up. I would really like some help with this please before i change the rest of the computer. If i have to upgrade the cpu then i also have to upgrade the motherboard because i have a socket 462 but its old and the only cpu's u can get now are AMD Sempron and AMD Sempron uses FSB333MHz. This motherboard has FSB267MHz. This is the specs of Battlefield 2 if it helps: 1.7GHz Intel Celeron D/Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP/Sempron or greater 512mb Ram or greater DVD Rom 8x or faster Hard Drive 2.3GB or more Video Card must have 128mb or more memory on NVIDIA Geforce FX 5700 or greater. So if you can help me before i spend more money that would be appreciated.

Uninstall the video drivers via the CP and then run Drivercleanerpro to remove what was left behind, Then install the latest drivers. Cant hurt to uninstall the game and reinstall as well. |

2005-11-08 11:46:00 | I would suggest (inlight of the driver update not working) that a visit to the BF2 site to find out about known issues is in order, and failing that a search on one of the major BF2 forums. I presume no other games are giving issue, and that the computer runs as expected when undertaking other tasks?

2005-11-08 19:33:00 | You'd need: The latest DirectX - it must have installed it or it would be telling you. The latest Nvidia driver - from Nvidias website. The card should be ok to run it. I'd increase your ram to 1Gb though. The glitches, so long as you have updated the graphics driver could be a game bug. Do what has been suggested and go to their website and check out problems either in their forum or through their troubleshooting section. BF2 is known to be quite high-specced but it should still run although perhaps not as zippy as on the latest hardware. BTW, you have checked you don't have the settings within the game too high for your hardware??? Like too high resolution and effects etc?

2005-11-09 07:58:00 | Yeah. Thanks guys. I have reinstalled it and stuff like that. The thing is. I own 2 computers and it runs on one but not the other. And they're practically the same. Except for the CPU's. I will try the website. I was wondering, I'm finding it really hard to find a upgraded driver for the motherboard. Could it be that the driver is to old? Also the graphics card before i bought the Geforce was the onboard one from the motherboard. Maybe the drivers are still there? | hbksean (3766) | |
