1393479 2015-01-31 21:12:00 Hi

I recently reinstalled W7 on my SSD. Now I discover I can't boot to Vista which is on a 1TB HDD. Error 0xc000000e, missing or corrupt, failed to find OS loader.
Have tried several times the Vista startup repair from the install disk without success. I've been studying bootrec commands but it's not clear with regard to a dual boot system.
In addition which would I start with fixmbr, fixboot, etc? I did run scanos and rebuildbcd with both identifying "0".
I can view the Vista 1TB disk from W7 and have run the basic error-check option with success.
So after a couple of hours studying, viewing various video tutorials and trialling a few things, I'm cautious about upsetting the W7 installation, especially after a days work installing it and sorting out its' issues.
Please advise on how to proceed.
Thanks

1393480 2015-02-01 00:21:00 Ok, good news. I am able to boot to Vista again!! I have fixed the problem without boot.rec. I recalled I'd reset the BIOS to defaults when I was doing battle with W7 BSOD. This threw up another problem in that the SSD needed AHCI. So I wondered if there was other issues. The mobo has 6 sata ports. Only the SSD was listed in the first 4 showing. Looking at the cabling I saw the SSD was on #2 and the HDD was on #6. I swapped the leads so SSD was on #1 and HDD was on #2. The BIOS was happily showing these now so I booted to Vista,,, and yes it worked! Then I booted to W7 and all is well.

SO it appears the Vista HDD needed to be one of the first 4 sata ports??

I'd still like to know more about bootrec. Probably I'll need it one day. Any really good tutorials out there?

Thanks!

The helpful tutor does a very good job of explaining as he goes without over complicating or confusing the situation. Hope it helps..
