1380669 2014-08-01 11:04:00 With a family member who travels frequently both nationally and internationally through work and others a bit less often I am interested to know which is the best flight tracker to use. I have FlightTrack and FlightStats on my iPod, both of which are OK but seem to have quite a lag in the actual flight time. For instance last week one of them said the flight was only 150km from Auckland airport half an hour after they said the plane had taken off and the other said it was still at the airport.

They both also seem to take their time in announcing a plane's departure - is this deliberate or just tardy? Or is it just the iPod version that is slow? I haven't actually used the computer versions. If there are better trackers I would be pleased to hear about them.

1380671 2014-08-01 16:56:00 There was a brilliant graphical flight tracker link posted here some time ago but I'm buggered if I can remember it :-(

I'll ask my g/f tomorrow who should know as she runs a travel agency.

1380674 2014-08-01 22:27:00 Forgot to mention - Air NZ has a useful tracker for their flights on their website. I kinda assume most other major airlines have the same sorta thing. Greg (193)
1380675 2014-08-02 22:55:00 Try Flightaware, often used by airlines to track their own flights.

Here (flightaware.com)

More detailed than the others, it's free, and also available as a free mobile app. :)

Flightaware can also track general aviation flights as long as a flight plan has been filed.
