1380512 2014-07-31 23:40:00 We are about to have "Smart Meters" installed. There has been a lot written about the Pros & Cons of these gadgets.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has any adverse comments about them?. It appears to me that they mostly benefit the Power companies?.

1380513 2014-08-01 00:18:00 They measure real time and accurately.
There were a lot of bleats from some people whose old meter wasn't accurate.

We have one, I spend no amount of time thinking about it, power ranges from $100 to $150 a month.

1380514 2014-08-01 00:30:00 Must admit I never give our present meter any thought and just pay the account when it arrives. Pato (2463)
1380515 2014-08-01 00:56:00 Pity our power companies have (as usual) gone and done this in the cheapest way possible, and not implemented the ones where there's a display inside of your current usage.

Most people, upon seeing that would almost gamify it and try to lower their usage.

1380516 2014-08-01 02:19:00 a few of the power co's do have a look up on their website, so you can check what your current usage is. tweak'e (69)

again, the el cheapo method. I'd rather have a little LCD display in my house.

Aren't they on the meters themselves?

They are...but there was an extra bit they could have bought, so that we could have the usage on a screen inside, ie on your kitchen bench.

If like my house, the meter was outside.
