I transferred movies to my computer using a Firewire cable (IEEE 1394). I think the camera had a USB capability but I never used it. It was probably for transferring the still pictures | BBCmicro (15761) | ||
2015-02-10 03:32:00 | Do you know if you can use a firewire cable directly from camera to laptop? Or do I have to use a medium between the two? | Ngatee (17337) | |
2015-02-10 04:05:00 | That's all you need. Nothing in between. Just plug one end into the mac the other end into the connection on the cam. Just make sure you get the right cable. Since there's 4 pin and 6 pin firewire cables. I think there's also a 9 pin cable. And some cables are thinner than others

2015-02-10 04:13:00 | This is the manual www.sony-asia.com I've read it but from my understanding it seems like I need an HVR DR60 hard drive with an iLink cord to connect the camera to my laptop. Surely there must be another way?! I've tried doing the memory card thing but it won't record video on to the memory card I think it is for pictures... A hdd is an option. If its got built in firewire, you dont need a hdd. According to the manual its got an i.link connector, this is firewire The circled connector is the firewire. This is from the manual

2015-02-10 09:59:00 | Thanks guys. I'm in Hamilton. I've just seen that the camera needs a 4 pin cable as well and I will definitely be using Mac so 6 pin connector on the other end is what I'm looking for. I'll try find this in the shops tomorrow and hopefully everything will be all good!! I'm hoping I won't need to load any other software other than the Play Memories Home application I downloaded from the Sony Website :) | Ngatee (17337) | |
