| 1392665 | 2015-01-25 09:13:00 | When we switched to fibre here in Christchurch our costs went down by $15 a month. By the time fibre crawls into my neck of the woods, that $15 saving will probably be a price increase! Is it fibre to the nearest cabinet or fibre to the home? If the latter, I foresee a cost for connection and a hike in price per GB. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we end up with a net reduction in costs. Cheers Billy 8-{) :dogeye: |

Remember the UFB project is partly government funded and there are tight controls on costing etc. What happens in the long run who knows. |

| 1392667 | 2015-01-25 18:53:00 | We got free connection to the home, 100Gb + free calling for $75 with Snap. But I feel your pain as we are moving on Friday to a semi rural area and will be back on ADSL2. | gary67 (56) | ||

My company runs an install fee for UFB, but we proactively chase it rather than just "letting it happen". Plus there's the likes of the initial setup plus router stuff, coupled with the minimal amount you can make these days and its no wonder ISPs aren't rushing to discount things... |
