1381299 2014-08-10 04:28:00 Spelling? Who needs spelling in this modern day and age?

Hell, Napoleon ruled most of Europe and he couldn't spell either.

Same goes for Hemingway and Churchill - and they didn't even have spell check back then! Oh the horror!

1381300 2014-08-10 04:29:00 A very common error is using "loose" when "lose" is meant.

Loose = detached or not fitting closely;
Lose = to be deprived of ownership.

1381302 2014-08-10 22:59:00 re the 'fat kids' article.
Is it just me, or does the kid in the wheel chair seems not overly fat at all, he even plays sports.

As for spelling, language evolves over time. What is not dictated as THE ONLY WAY by the spelling & grammar nazi's, may have been completely incorrect 100, 200, 300
years ago.
Our language is evolving to include Moari, French & other words bastardised from other languages .
where are the spelling nazi's when we commonly mis-use words bastardised from other languages & cultures.
Get over yourself , if 50 - 85% of the population use particular spelling & txt speak, then surely 15%(or less) cant dictate what is exceptable use in our NZ-english.

"color" , why is that spelling so god awefull bad. Makes more sense than the UK/NZ spelling

True, but most of the arguments and changes to spelling back then was because most were illiterate.
Now, there is the accepted way.

Color isn't so bad.....kuller is.
