1380266 2014-07-28 22:56:00 Thanks for that Billy T. It will be off my hands so to speak, in a couple of weeks, then it's up to my nephew to do what he wants with it. I have no use for it, I'll just leave it plugged in till this afternoon and then switch it all off till I get it to him.

Appreciate all the usual great advice!

Cheers, LL. :-)

1380267 2014-07-29 00:35:00 The inverter is specced to run for no more than the length of time it takes for the computer to be shut down, whether manually or via software, and this is not much longer then 3-4 minutes. If it runs for any greater duration it will either overheat and die, or stop when the battery voltage drops too low to sustain the output voltage. Had one of mine in the workshop run for just under 15 minutes with no power a while back was half way through doing an upgrade / install, and the guys out front who were replacing a power pole, cut the power to the house unknowingly  the UPS was beeping like mad, thought what the hell let it run and hopefully the battery will last -- it did, then the power came back :) wainuitech (129)
