| 1393641 | 2015-02-04 23:23:00 | Hi. I've noticed that my wireless connection drops momentarily, coinciding with the 'lease expires' time on the wireless network connection details. This isn't much of a problem, unless I'm using Skype, when the call gets cut. Is there any way of controlling the lease times (which seem to be typically set for an hour at a time) and could this have anything to do with the use of Norton Internet Security ...? I'm running Win 7 professional, the modem/router is as supplied by Vodafone with firewall etc through NIS. Any ideas would be welcome ... thx. | plimtk (6718) | ||
| 1393642 | 2015-02-06 02:40:00 | 60 mins is a very short lease time (unless you are operating a hotspot with a lot of transient clients). A 1 day lease is more typical; see if there is a lease duration parameter in your dhcp server (most likely in the voda modem in your case) and increase the lease time. A client should attempt to renew a lease halfway through the lease duration - this allows for a continuous connection. Maybe your very short lease time is causing an issue with renewals - I would change it to 1440 minutes if you can, reboot the modem and see how it goes from there. | wuppo (41) | ||
